Cashew prices hit a peak

Cashew prices hit a peak. Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation said that the demand for cashews has increased ahead of the New Year season.

The cashew corporation further informed that due to high demand for cashew, it is not able to provide its capacity as per the demand.

In this case, it is reported that one kg of cashews are being sold between 4000-5000 rupees in private outlets.

But it is reported that one kg of cashew is sold between 3000 and 3500 rupees by Sri Lanka cashew corporation.

Also, in some areas broken cashew nuts are glued together using various types of glue and sold as whole cashews, which has led to a decline in the sale of high-quality cashews, according to Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation.
