A few more items will drop in price before the New Year

Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando has said that commodity prices in Sri Lanka have been reduced due to the strengthening of the rupee against the dollar.

The Minister mentioned that prices of commodities will further decrease before this New Year.

The minister further said that there is no need to import rice this year and the price of rice will further decrease.

Meanwhile, the Lanka Sathosa Company has reduced the prices of some essential consumer goods offered to the public from today.

Accordingly,

• The new price of 425g tinfish is Rs 490. Its price reduction is Rs.30. 
• The new price of 1 kg of big onion is Rs 97 and the price reduction is Rs 22. 
• The new price of wheat flour per kg is Rs 225. Price reduction is Rs.10.

It is also noteworthy that the price of 12 essential commodities has been reduced last week.
