The Ongoing Railway Boycott and its Impact on Commuters

The trade unions say that the boycott strike started by the railway station principals with various demands will continue.

The railway station masters and train controllers have started a strike since midnight on the 9th.

Due to the strike, many train journeys were canceled yesterday and only a few trains were running, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Railway Acting General Manager S.S. Muldike mentioned that despite the strike, about 70 train journeys were conducted yesterday.

Apart from that, he said that the buses owned by the Sri Lanka Transport Board were also operated as per the demand of the passengers.

In this case, a passenger fell from the train near Pemmulla railway station and died yesterday (11).

It is reported that he fell from the train traveling from Colombo Kurakottai to Polkahavela yesterday evening.
