Introducing VAT Free Shops A Boost for Consumer Goods and Fair Trade

Minister Bandula Gunawardena announced plans to launch VAT FREE SHOP stores nationwide, offering consumer goods without Value Added Tax (VAT). The minister made this announcement during a program held in the Kaduwela area on January 21.

In addition, Minister Gunawardena mentioned that there are numerous commercial establishments under the Road Development Authority, which operates under his ministry. He instructed authorities to explore the possibility of utilizing these establishments and take appropriate actions.

The objective of establishing a network of shops across the country for non-VAT products, such as vegetables, rice, and baby milk powders, is to facilitate competitive and fair trade opportunities for individuals interested in engaging in such businesses.
