A group of Sri Lankans refuse to leave Sudan




A group of Sri Lankans refuse to leave Sudan: The Ministry of External Affairs said that 18 Sri Lankans in Sudan have refused to leave the country.

A group expressed their desire to stay in Sudan, saying they would lose their jobs, said Foreign Minister, Presidential Counsel Ali Sabri.

However, Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken steps to evacuate 34 Sri Lankans who have expressed their desire to leave Sudan so far and 14 of them have reached the country and 6 others have reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Minister Ali Sabri said.

The Minister of External Affairs said that 14 more Sri Lankans are staying in Port Sudan and necessary arrangements have been made to bring them back to the country soon.
