The dollar crisis ends today: Sri Lanka's dollar crisis has come to an end as the Executive Committee has received approval for a 2.9 billion US dollar loan from the International Monetary Fund today (20), the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dr P. Nandalal Weerasinghe has said.

Nandalal Weerasinghe pointed out that Sri Lanka will still have sufficient foreign reserves to import essential goods.

The Governor of the Central Bank has expressed hope that by receiving a loan from the International Monetary Fund, investors' confidence in Sri Lanka will increase and thus Sri Lanka will get new foreign funds and new approaches to investment opportunities.
