Today marks four years since the Easter attack (April 21)


Today marks 4 years since the April 21 suicide bombing tragedy.

On April 21, 2019, there were 8 bomb blasts in churches, star hotels in Colombo, Dehiwala Guest House and Thematagodai housing complex on Easter Sunday. 272 people were killed and more than 500 injured in these blasts. It is noteworthy that some of the injured are still receiving treatment in hospitals and homes.

The 4th Annual Special Requiem Masses for the victims of the Gundam Thakul incident will be offered on Friday (21) morning at St. Anthony's Church in Kochikadai, Colombo, St. Sebastian's Church in Katuwapitti, Negombo and Zion Church in Batticaloa.

A special walk Bhavani and people's wall program have been organized for the repose of the souls of the victims of the blast on Resurrection Sunday. This walking procession is organized from Katuwapitti temple to Kochikkadai shrine.

Melkum Cardinal Ranjith Andagai appealed to all the people of the country to participate in the 'People's Wall' program, irrespective of caste, religion, language and party, so that the main masterminds of the Easter Sunday bombings are brought before the law and justice is established in the country.
