A Strong Earthquake in New Zealand

Today (24) a strong earthquake has occurred off the northeast coast of New Zealand.

Foreign media reports that the magnitude of the earthquake is 7.3. That's around 1.42am UK time and around 12.42pm in New Zealand.

The earthquake occurred near the Kermadec Islands, about 500 miles northeast of New Zealand's coast. Because of this, New Zealand authorities investigated whether there was a tsunami warning to be followed.

Accordingly, they reportedly asked all residents near the coast to "evacuate immediately" instead of waiting for a tsunami review.

However, about an hour after the earthquake was reported, it was revealed that there is no tsunami threat to the country.
