Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake has said that the results of the presidential election which started today (21) will be announced constituency wise before 12 midnight.
According to a special statement issued to the media, the counting of votes will start between 8 pm and 9 pm in all the counting stations nationwide.
The Election Commissioner added that once the ballot boxes in each polling station nationwide are available, the process of counting the votes of each polling station will begin.
In addition, Saman Sri Ratnayake, who indicated that the number of postal voters in this year's presidential election was 712,318, said that except for 6,200 of them, all the postal votes have been marked.
Postal votes are being counted at 429 counting centers in the country.
